New York, New York sang by Mamdani

Illustrated by: Javier Inga Martinez - PÍO
New York, become again New Amsterdam. Mamdani, the new mayor, just said what the poor and confused citizens wanted to hear. In a city where working people that in most of the cases need to travel from more convenient locations in terms of renting and living prices. Big companies and brands left Manhattan glass and mirrors salons for the ethereal e-commerce, including wealthy people that lived in buildings where just around 30% of the residents pay for the monthly common rates, what created a danger of living for who had his apartment on the 25th floor without lifter service. The streets are full of what looks like the security preparations for buildings in the process of restoration, but there isn’t money for that, they just try to secure the streets from the infrastructures falling concrete. A real daily nightmare, where Mamdani, without the funds and ideas to solve some of these problematics will be more a political abstract figure, like a wax sculpture seated in Central Park.
Right now New York is more like the original New Amsterdam where gangs of different ethnic and religious groups, fought to have a right to survive almost like a human. To become again New York, this emblematic world capital needs of a serious plan of infrastructure, better connections with other neighboring states, especially with New Jersey, and to be able to attract people that can make a rational and luxury lifestyle while giving opportunities to all the poor workers that are getting higher in number every day and just vote Mamdani as a security exhaust valve to let exit their feeling of a painful daily living, which is their reality.
