There is nothing more difficult for a man than to be a male. What means to accept the daily good and bad but to get any kind of possible result to take care of your family, and why not your country as well!
This was Giuseppe Garibaldi! A poor mercenary in South America, just with the wish to get a rich part in the division of lands, and give dignity to Anita, his great wife and his many kids. History said that he passed from side to side his sword over a man, who gave without any respect, him the news of the death of his son during his missing months from home battling for a change in what never was a final destiny. He changed from battles to the sea, transporting Chinese engaged with fake contracts of work to the plantations of sugar and cotton in Peru. He murdered a man after a fight in a bar in the Callao port who accused him of making business on slavery.
Anita, his partner, the only one, died of fevers during the campaign against the Austrians, fighting this time for his country, he needed to bury this superb Amazon woman in an improvised grave, without the respect she deserved, due to escaping from the enemy.
Garibaldi was born in Nice, that was part of the Savoie Piemont Kingdom, and his birth place was given from his king, to the French to avoid a war. He maybe understood this behaviour, because his true enemy was the pope Leon XIII, who requested help to the French army to fight against the Garibaldi warriors.
(Garibaldi, during his last years at Caprera island called a donkey in his honour) Mameli died at the doors of Rome, fighting for the new Italy, with a poem in his jacket that became the Italian Anthem.
He won in Sicily against the Borbonic army, with just 1,000 heroes, thanks to the negotiation capacities of Garibaldi, convincing the mafia that after the war they will be in charge of Sicily. Garibaldi, the king, and now the Italian government keeps their word. Garibaldi used always a red jacket, showing no fear of death and was never shot. He preferred to attack with his little army during the day, when the professional and well prepared armies would never expect.
This was his “surprise” strategy.
Garibaldi was a male, and after winning all for his king, who will be the first king of Italy. Vittorio Emanuele told Garibaldi that he will be removed of any military position and status since he is not a military of career and he wants just professionalism. Garibaldi understood that his king wanted to protect his kingdom and he appreciated all he did for him and Italy, he gave Garibaldi an island and a generous lifetime pension. It’s difficult to understand what the nature of some people is not because it’s far of human needs, but some lives needed to be written in the most difficult scenarios and with blood instead of ink.
