Synderesis
From the Greek Synteresis, from Syntereo, to follow.
Innate natural human ability to recognise that: “Good should be done and evil avoided”
If we follow human history most of the people unconsciously put on hold this intrinsic ability, to operate with more selfish instincts, like envy for example, to desire the money or material items of this or that person, to want to be known, or “popular” as this or that person, but never to know, or to have the knowledge as this or that person, this is not a daily mundanity need.
But worse than envy is to stop thinking, ignoring your ideas and personal capabilities to just purse a political or social command with no space for criticism. This is not just a human tragedy but a menace for humanity.
For Saint Thomas: The law of intellect is to follow the light of conscience.
