San Marcos and his Romantic Exiles!

Written by: Oscar Bellina Lishner

Illustrated by: Javier Inga Martinez - PÍO

30 years ago I met Javier Inga, our genial illustrator in a classroom of the law school in San Marcos University. San Marcos was an open space for who was searching for a prestigious student title, to find a good job and to have a secure life, as well. But there were people like Javier or myself, Oscar Bellina Lishner, exiled from the normality of life planning, searchers of their own limits, people that wanted to live an intense life, and San Marcos respected us and our choices that in any case we were able to change at anytime, a tacit value that created the history and myth of the oldest university of America.
Some of our companions have passed, like Ronnie and Jorge, all the others are living making the life they choose and wanted without limits, in the simplicity, normality or in another exceptional way.
Hernan, Cesar, Daisy, Silvia and many other important names in my life, expanded my knowledge, sincerely expressed their ambitions, projects, and hiding in a rational and obvious manner their fears and doubts, some similar to mine, but different people, different ideas, we never looked at ethnicity, skin color, accents, how rich or poor, we were companions.
With Javier, it was always an artistic connection, he never advised me or I him, we just have a clean and respectful admiration for each others own doing and talents.
After 30 years we’re creating: From The Window of Herodoto, which will be 100 Essays, 100 Illustrations and 100 reciprocal compliments between Javier and I, with a friendship sealed by the glory of our Alma Mater! San Marcos
