A Real Crisis in Argentina

This time it’s not about politics, el campo, el peso; it’s about the most important passion for the Argentinians: El Futbol!

The AFA (Argentinian Soccer Association) Directed by Chiqui Tapia, decided to give the 2025 National League trophy to Rosario Central, who supposedly needed to wait, play and win the Playoff to be the champion! After the Playoffs there will now be another champion with another trophy which will not be Rosario Central since they lost against Estudiantes de La Plata; the entire team of Estudiantes turned their backs to the Rosario Central team as a protest for their “title”. 

For an Argentinian to know that their soccer team, whom they love, follow and talk about, as an identity fact that makes them belong to an immense family, even the problems of their teams are real suffering that helps the people to forget their own pain. But as I said, to know now that the rules don’t matter, that the president of the AFA can just decide to do whatever is convenient for his personal agenda and to keep his millionaire position. Now it is clear that the AFA and Chiqui Tapia, want to be friends of everybody, especially with a team from Rosario, a city that is under the permanent pressure of Narco Mafias, who truely has  interest, eyes and power in any kind of lucrative activity, including soccer.

For an Argentinian, soccer is like how boxing was for the immigrants and blacks in the USA of the beginning of the 20th century, a way to escape from poverty and to support their entire family, friends and towns!
