Reading the history of our Yosef during the days, our patriarch learned, that after being betrayed by his brothers, sold like a slave and being put in jail for more than a decade, he continued firmly not just to believe and trust, but to be a Jew.
Life changed for him in one day, thanks to his noble and intelligent nature, he became the second most powerful man of Egypt, even then he didn’t take revenge on his brothers who put him in a dark existential hole, he forgave them, giving them caravans full of goods and presents.
Reading and trying to understand the facts in the History of Yosef, the moment when his brothers betrayed him is a kind of recurrence in our society, since people, including brothers are different, and when some develop in something and the other wanted but doesn’t feel capable to do it, the envy especially in partnership with ignorance can be destructive, as it is clear in history there is not a perfect family, but what is divine is the forgiveness as a value of greatness and not a fact of being weak and stupid. When a person like Yosef holds carefully this light inside him, taking care that the cold wind of tragedy and suffering didn’t turn it off. After thousands of years Yosef would still be the best leader and friend we could have.
